The beautiful island of Kos is located in the Mediterranean Sea just off the west coast of Turkey. Kos along with many other of the islands in the region bare the marks of great empires such as Ottoman and Roman, and is visible as a result of the many ruins and monuments still standing today that you can see for yourself on holidays in Kos.

There is keen archaeological interest on the island where the fossilised remains of hippopotami, horses and gigantic elephants have been found. Places you must go and see on your holidays in Kos include the Plane Tree of Hippocrates where the ancient physician was said to have taught and the Hippocratic Museum and International Hippocratic Institute dedicated to him. Also it is worth visiting the ruins of Asklepieion which was a healing temple made for the god Asclepius.

If you intend to do more relaxing and unwinding rather than sightseeing then you will find plenty of great resorts along the coast to provide you with golden sand and warm waters to enjoy on holidays in Kos. The island capital also named Kos is the tourist centre for the island and it is there where you will find many modern tourist attractions like water sports and other typical activities around the beach. At night you can expect a lively nightlife on your holidays in Kos, many tourists head to the area aptly named ‘Bar Street’ to find the perfect setting to enjoy a few drinks. Kardamena is another popular resort for nightlife and his home to many bars and clubs, and is located along the south coast of Kos.
