The famous Monty Python sketch proclaims ‘Torremolinos, Torremolinos!’ and then they complained about the food! Torremolinos has gone from being the punch line of a Python joke to being an attractive and appealing resort for all the family with clean, golden sandy beaches, a wide choice of hotels and restaurants and a fantastic range of entertainment options, it is no wonder many are taking advantage of a cheap Torremolinos holiday. The resort is located west of Malaga airport and was one of the first Costa del Sol holiday destinations, stretching back to the early sixties. Today the resort still boasts some of the original restaurants that serve fantastic fresh sea food and local wines.

The resort has developed into a modern tourist haven, with large hotels, apartment blocks and many bars to choose from. The paved streets are lined with boutiques, shops and markets selling local crafts and produce. The old fishing village of La Carihuela is another fantastic attraction, with traditional houses and shops that have escaped commercial development. The El Calvario area is a hidden gem and perfect for the tourist who does not like the hustle and bustle of the main tourism centres. The area is quite quiet with just one street that contains bars and restaurants.

The stereotypical image of Torremolinos is one covered in concrete high-rises. However due to recent developments several public gardens have emerged that contained over one thousand species of tree. On the outskirts of town you will find three stunning forests that contain freshwater springs and even barbeque facilities for those wanting a holiday in the great outdoors! Families will love the fantastic water parks that are located nearby as well as the varied selection of water sports available on the beaches.

Possibly the main attraction of the resort is the chance to completely relax and unwind within a picturesque setting, where the weather is perfect and there is an abundance of sun loungers! For a great holiday destination, I would definitely recommend a cheap, Torremolinos holiday; it’s guaranteed you won’t be complaining about the food!
